That notwithstanding, it's a mystery which only holds its intrigue for the first 40% of the book. After that, despite the author's attempts, it's pretty easy to see what's going to happen next. Seeming like a weak British imitation of Dan Brown's "The Lost Symbol", it uses Freemasonry as a plot tool but unfortunately is unable to create the drama and suspense of Mr. Brown's work. That SO many deaths are simply dismissed pushes belief beyond all bounds. It's a lengthy book for a 'beach read' but if you want a Masonic mystery with some unbelievable characters and action, you might enjoy this. At the end, I felt a bit cheated - not so much on price but because of the time I'd taken to read this."
